This week we invited language teacher, Fabiana Casella(@FabianaLCasella /@gmgce ), to introduce us to Argentina.
Shelly: Which landmark is a must for visitors?
Fabiana: Downtown Buenos Aires, Puerto Madero Area, Palermo Neighborhood, Fine Arts Museum, San Telmo Neighborhood: bars, restaurants, tango bars, antiques and museums.
Shelly: What is a popular local dish?
Fabiana: There are many. Here are 10 food items to try and below is a video about our steakhouses.
Shelly: Describe an activity your English learners enjoy!
Fabiana: My students, like most teenagers, like to talk. So, we have Monday morning news: in groups of 3 or 4, they choose one article (Politics, World News, Technology, Sports, Economy, Entertainment) from the online newspaper Buenos Aires Herald. They read it, then summarize it including key vocabulary words/grammar structures, and tell about it to the rest of the class. I give each group around 3 to 5 minutes so that each member can talk for about sixty to 90 seconds. It all depends on the number of students in each group, and the content of the article. Sometimes, it is better to give sports news to all the groups as the weekend is a time when several games and events take place: soccer national league, field hockey, rugby, tennis or some other sport of their interest.
Thank you, Fabiana, for introducing us to Argentina!
